VP Sara Duterte Speaks on Issues & Accusations against her
SARA DUTERTE -The Vice President asserted that she will not hide or leave the Philippines even if an arrest warrant will be released.
Vice Pres. Duterte is currently surrounded by issues and accusations over the Confidential Funds spending of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and her remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has released a subpoena for Duterte over her recent statement against the President, the First Lady, and the Speaker.
Duterte issued “threats” on the lives of Pres. Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez if an alleged plot against her succeeds. The NBI summoned the Vice President for her to explain her statement against the Marcoses.
Prior to the recent scheduled NBI investigation that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte has skipped anew, the Vice President said there was no “active threat” in her statement. The investigation bureau initially schedule the hearing last November 29 but the Vice President was not able to appear at the NBI headquarters.
Instead, Duterte asked the NBI for the rescheduling of the summon as she will prioritize the House hearing over the Confidential Funds use of her office wherein some of the OVP staff members was set to attend. The panel of the lower chamber decided to cancel the hearing so the Vice President has no reason to skip the NBI probe.
However, Vice Pres. Duterte claimed she knew about the cancellation of the House hearing late so she was still unable to attend the NBI investigation. The probe was rescheduled yesterday, December 11.
Unexpectedly, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte still skipped the NBI investigation for a lunch party with the media. According to the Vice President, she will go home to Davao City after the event for the burial of her uncle.
Following her absence at the NBI investigation, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on the issues and allegations against her. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President asserted that she has no plan to hide or leave the Philippines.
Duterte further said that if an arrest warrant will be issued against her, she will not evade it and would prefer to be detained here in the country. She stressed that her children are here.
“My children are here so if I will be detained, I want to see them,” she said.
Based on the report, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also stressed that she is finishing her term. She also stressed that she is at peace with whatever that will happen to her.
“I am staying, finishing my term because that is my contract with the Filipino people. I’m at peace with whatever happens to me… I have already accepted that whatever happens to me, that is God’s purpose for my life,” the Vice President.
Only the lawyer of Vice Pres. Duterte, Attorney Paul Lim, arrived at the NBI investigation yesterday and submitted a letter. However, the NBI refused to take the letter as the sworn statement of Vice Pres. Duterte.
