DIWATA – The pares vendor and social media personality elicited mixed reactions after sporting a reindeer costume.
Diwata, whose real name is Deo Jarito Balbuena, is a well-known internet personality, food vlogger, and entrepreneur. Born in 1982 in Northern Samar, he moved to Metro Manila at the age of 17 to pursue better opportunities. He is the founder and CEO of Diwata Pares Overload, a popular food business offering affordable Filipino pares meals.
He first gained attention in 2016 after a widely publicized incident at a police station, and his fame grew when he participated in the “Miss Q and A” segment on “It’s Showtime” in 2019. Despite facing legal challenges in 2024, he continued to rise in prominence, receiving awards such as ‘Most Sensational Media Personality of the Year’ and ‘Social Media Influencer of the Year.’
Recently, Diwata took to social media, posting snaps of himself sporting a reindeer costume. His post was accompanied by the caption: “Ready na ngayon gabi para i judge ang mga kabaklaan!” Diwata was dressed up as a reindeer as he attended an event that may have been related to Christmas.
His post immediately went viral, garnering mixed reactions from netizens. Some netizens argued that he was not dressing up as a reindeer but rather a seahorse. Despite some rude comments, others found his costume and presentation amusing and even defended him.
“Sobrang judgemental na ng mga tao base sa panglabas kung makapintas sobrang lilinis na nila. D ako fan ni diwata pero medyo nakakatakot nadin ung gantong behavior. Parang gusto nila lahat maging perfect. Sana lang perfect din lahat ng pinagdadaanan nyo,” one netizen wrote. Another netizen commented: “All Gods creations are Maganda po! (emojis) and you are one of them.”
