1 Suspected Coronavirus Case in Cagayan – DOH

DOH – The Department of Health confirmed that there is one (1) suspected case of the 2019 novel coronavirus in Cagayan Valley.

The scare caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus has alarmed a lot of people – not only in China. Currently, Wuhan City which is the epicenter of the disease that is characterized by flu-like symptoms, is under a lock-down.

Nearly 8,000 people are infected of nCoV in China now. At least 400 lost their lives to the disease which is speculated to have stemmed from the bat soup served in the market in Wuhan.

The 2019 novel coronavirus has reached several other countries including the Philippines. In fact, the first nCoV death case outside China was recorded in the Philippines last Sunday.

A Chinese woman aging 38 years old tested positive for coronavirus. She is admitted in San Lazaro Hospital in Manila. Her travel companion, a 44-year-old Chinese man, was also admitted.

However, on Sunday, a sad and alarming report crossed the surface. The Chinese man passed away due to coronavirus.

Several other provinces have also confirmed suspected cases of coronavirus. Recently, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Department of Health (DOH) confirmed one (1) suspected nCoV case in Cagayan.

According to the report, DOH Region 2 Director, Dr. Rio Lat Magpantay, expressed that the patient is a 29-year-old domestic helper who works in Hong Kong. She arrived in the Philippines last January 24.

Meanwhile, according to the DOH Doctor, there are signs of improvement on the condition of the patient. She is currently treated at Cagayan Valley Medical Center and the Dr. Magpantay stressed that there is still no confirmed nCoV case in Cagayan Valley.
