Negros Occidental Provincial Gov’t Confirms Two (2) Suspected Coronavirus Cases in Bacolod City

SUSPECTED CORONAVIRUS CASES IN BACOLOD – The authorities gave an update on the suspected cases of nCoV in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

The number of people under investigation for suspected coronavirus case continues to increase. The said disease was first recorded in Wuhan City, China which is under an outbreak now.

Wuhan is under a lock-down after nearly 8,000 people were infected by coronavirus or nCoV. At least 400 people died due to the said rampant disease.

The Philippines is one of those countries that the coronavirus outbreak has reached. There are two (2) confirmed cases in the country and one of the patients died on Sunday.

Suspected Coronavirus Cases in Bacolod City

Yesterday, the provincial government of Negros Occidental confirmed that there are two (2) suspected cases of coronavirus in Bacolod City. It was no other than Governor Eugenio “Bong” Lacson who expressed it.

According to the Governor, one of the patients is a foreigner while the other is a Filipino who has a travel history to Hong Kong. Their specimens have already been sent for checking.

An update about the suspected coronavirus cases in Bacolod City recently crossed the surface. Based on a post on the Facebook page of Negros Daily Bulletin Media, the foreigner is a Canadian while the other patient is a Filipino – not a Filipina which was stated in previous reports.

The Pinoy was initially mistaken to be a female because of his name. According to Dr. Grace Tan, he arrived from Hong Kong and was admitted at Doña Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital last Saturday for the flu-like symptoms.

Based on the post, the foreigner is a Canadian national who came from Taiwan. He is married to a Filipina and got confined last Friday in the same hospital.

The patients are now isolated and the results of their laboratory tests are expected to arrive today for the foreigner’s and tomorrow for the Pinoy’s. Both of them are not residents of Bacolod City. More updates may be posted soon.
