The Marcos-Duterte feud is undeniably something that many people, most especially the BBM-Sara supporters, didn’t see coming. They made a strong tandem in the Elections 2022 and campaigned in the platform of unity. However, according to the Vice President, she was on a “mistaken belief” of unity and continuity then.

What many Filipinos witnessed for decades is that the Marcoses and the Aquinos are on the opposite sides of the spectrum. However, recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte issued a statement that could trigger the Marcos-Aquino faction.

Based on a report on GMA News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the Marcos family is allegedly behind the death of the Aquino patriarch, the late former Senator Ninoy Aquino. He was assassinated on Aug. 21, 1983 at the then-Manila International Airport.

The death of Ninoy Aquino triggered protests against then-President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. The latter placed the country under Martial Law from 1972 to 1981 until his ouster in 1986. He was ousted through the EDSA People Power Revolution and the widow of Ninoy Aquino, Cory Aquino, became the first female president of the country.

The Marcos family has yet to issue a statement on the remarks of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The Aquino family is also mum as well. Prior to the Vice President’s recent remark, Pres. Bongbong Marcos issued a statement amid the tirades of Duterte against him and his family.

Marcos stressed that there were several alarming statements lately and he won’t let pass the threats. He also asserted that the rule of law must be upheld. According to him, the politicians have the responsibility to implement and protect the rules and the Constitution.
