A DepEd Chief Accountant also claimed receiving envelopes with cash allegedly from Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. According to education chief accountant Ma. Rhunna Catalan, she received nine envelopes with cash from February to September 2023.

According to Catalan, she thought that it was an allowance from the personal pocket of the Vice President and there was no voucher  which she signed for when she received the envelopes with cash. The DepEd Chief Accountant claimed that there was no instances like it prior to the term of Duterte as the education secretary.

Bongbong Marcos, First Lady Liza Marcos

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte made a claim against First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the former DepEd Secretary claimed that it was allegedly the First Lady who was behind the cash-filled envelopes that were given to the DepEd officials.

“Liza Marcos, naaalala mo, nagpadala ka sa akin ng video? Sinabihan mo ako saan kukunin ang pera. Pinakita mo ang mukha ng tao doon sa video message mo,” the Vice President said.

Duterte further claimed that the First Lady allegedly gave her written instructions regarding the money which amounted to millions per month. Based on the report, “Department of Education” was allegedly written in the envelope so she gave it to the DepEd officials.

“Wala ka ngang posisyon sa gobyerno, namimigay ka ng pera ng gobyerno,” Vice Pres. Duterte said.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte slammed the Marcoses for allegedly tainting her name after she left the Marcos administration. She claimed that there was already a “white envelope” in the education department even prior to DepEd having confidential funds under her term.

Amid the issues surrounding her and the OVP, Vice Pres. Duterte insisted that politicians must fulfill their campaign promises and mentioned the P20 per kilo rice promise of Marcos Jr.
