RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former President advised his daughter, Vice President Sara Duterte, to get out of politics as fast as she can.

The Dutertes are among the most popular political clans in the Philippines. Their patriarch, Rodrigo, is a former president of the country. He served as the Philippines’ chief executive from 2016 to 2022. Prior to it, he served as the mayor of Davao City for several years.

Currently, all the adult children of Duterte are holding government positions. His daughter, Inday Sara, is the current vice president of the Philippines while his eldest son, Paolo Duterte, is the representative of the first district of Davao City.

Baste Duterte is currently the mayor of Davao City. Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte will run for mayor of Davao City in the 2025 Elections and Baste will be his running-mate. Paolo or also popularly called by his nickname, Pulong, will seek re-election.

Recently, unexpected by many people, former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte advised Vice Pres. Sara Duterte to leave the political arena the soonest that she can based on a report on GMA News. Currently, the Vice President is the center of many issues and her office is being called for inquiries by the House of Representatives.

“Si Inday, pasalamat ka na lang sa Diyos na ang tatay mo naging Presidente, ikaw naging Vice President. Bihirang-bihira yan, bihira sa isang pamilya. Hindi lahat ng pamilya sa Pilipinas… pasalamat na lang tayo. Now, as fast as you can, get out of politics,” former Pres. Duterte said.

Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is a former secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd). It was in June she left her post as the education secretary. Her relationship with Pres. Bongbong Marcos has turned sour.

Currently, there are investigations in the House on the fund use of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd). The chief consultant of DepEd admitted during a hearing that she received envelopes with cash from Duterte during the term of the Vice President as the DepEd secretary.

In 2023, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also got involved in an issue over the speedy spending of DepEd’s multi-million confidential funds. Currently, Vice Pres. Duterte is urged to account the P112.5 million confidential funds of the DepEd during her term.
