Yulo Family Receives 1M from Chavit Singson

Chavit Singson Gives 1M to the Yulo Family

CHAVIT SINGSON – The former Ilocos Sur Governor has fulfilled his promise to the Yulo family by personally delivering a P1 million donation.

Singson visited the family on November 3, 2024, to provide support, as a gesture of respect and recognition for their contribution to Philippine gymnastics. Present at the private meeting were Mark Andrew, Angelica, Joriel, Eldrew, and Eliza Yulo.

This donation follows Singson’s earlier offer of P5 million to Carlos Yulo, the two-time Olympic gold medalist. Singson’s goal for this incentive was not solely to reward Carlos’s athletic success, but to encourage him to reconnect with his family. Singson expressed that the intention behind the offer was to strengthen family bonds, as he empathized with the pain of a strained parent-child relationship. He stated, “It’s painful as a father to be distanced from your child,” hinting at a personal understanding of family challenges.

However, Carlos has not accepted Singson’s offer to reconcile, choosing to maintain his distance. Despite this, Singson remains hopeful that Carlos might reconnect with his parents at some point. While some netizens have suggested that Carlos’s refusal may be due to the financial gains he’s already received—estimated at P100 million from individual and corporate sponsors—the former governor emphasizes the importance of family unity over monetary rewards.

Singson’s gesture has sparked discussions online, with some praising his intention to support both Carlos’s athletic achievements and family ties. While Carlos has yet to respond to Singson’s outreach, the former governor’s message highlights the value he places on family, particularly the need for understanding and reconciliation.

Meanwhile, Luis Crisologo Singson, widely known as Chavit Singson, is a businessman and retired politician. Singson has had a lengthy political career, most notably as the governor of Ilocos Sur, a role he held for multiple terms between 1972 and 2013. He also served as the mayor of Narvacan, Ilocos Sur, from 2019 to 2022. Additionally, Singson was a member of the Philippine House of Representatives, representing Ilocos Sur’s 1st congressional district from 1987 to 1992.
