Bagyong Marce Enters Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR)

Latest Update on Bagyong Marce According to PAGASA

Bagyong Marce – Tropical Storm Marce (internationally named Yinxing) has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and is expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds over parts of Luzon in the coming days.

As of 5:00 AM on November 4, 2024, the storm’s center was located 935 km east of Eastern Visayas, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h near its center and gusts reaching up to 80 km/h. Marce is currently moving west-northwest at 25 km/h, with strong winds extending 380 km outward from the storm’s center.

While no wind signals are currently in effect, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may be issued for parts of Cagayan by tomorrow. The highest possible warning level, Signal No. 4, could be raised if Marce intensifies further. Heavy rains associated with Marce are expected to affect Extreme Northern Luzon and eastern parts of Luzon beginning tomorrow or Tuesday. A surge of northeasterly winds may also bring additional rain to these regions, prompting a weather advisory for enhanced rainfall and strong winds.

Coastal communities, especially those in Batanes, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan, and Quezon, are warned of rough to moderate sea conditions, with waves reaching up to 3.0 meters. Small seacraft operators are advised to avoid sea travel in these rough conditions, as the storm’s strong winds and unpredictable weather could pose serious risks.

Bagyong Marce is expected to continue moving west-northwest until November 6 before slowing down and shifting westward. This path could bring the storm closer to Luzon, with two possible scenarios: Marce may move towards Northern Luzon or remain over the sea east of Luzon. Due to this uncertainty, PAGASA warns that future forecasts may change based on the evolving storm patterns and conditions.

Residents in affected areas are advised to monitor local announcements and follow any evacuation or safety instructions from local officials. According to PAGASA, the next update on Tropical Storm Marce is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. today.
