ROSMAR TAN – The social media personality and aspiring councilor sparked controversy with a Facebook post about Tropical Storm Kristine’s devastating impact on Bicol, where many are suffering from severe flooding.
In her post, she reflected on her own comfort, stating how fortunate she was to be resting in a soft bed with air conditioning while others struggled to survive the floods. She wrote, “ang hirap isipin na habang kami naka higa sa malambot na kama, kagigising lang at naka aircon, ang daming bata, matanda na di na alam paano ililigtas sarili sa Bicol dahil sa baha at bagyo.”
Though Rosmar likely intended her post to convey concern, it was met with mixed reactions from netizens, many of whom criticized her tone as insensitive given the ongoing calamity. Users expressed their frustration, with comments ranging from sarcasm to direct criticism.
Many netizens urged Rosmar to offer help to those in need instead of drawing attention to her own comfort. Some pointed out that someone running for public office should demonstrate genuine compassion for those affected rather than showcase their privileged lifestyle.

Meanwhile, Rosmar expressed regret for her earlier Facebook post about the flooding in Bicol, clarifying that she did not intend to boast about her comfort but to convey her guilt and concern for those suffering. She acknowledged the distress many are experiencing, with some stranded on rooftops, and noted seeing heartbreaking images of affected animals, elderly individuals, and children in her newsfeed.
Emphasizing her feelings of helplessness, Rosmar stated that she was not flaunting her situation but highlighting the difficulty of feeling comfortable while others are in dire circumstances.
