Aljur Abrenica Claims His Councilor Candidacy is a Means of ‘Giving Back’
ALJUR ABRENICA – The actor expressed his desire to give back to the community that has supported him as he runs for councilor in Angeles City, Pampanga.
To recall, it was just recently when the actor filed his Certificate of Candidacy for councilor under the party of former Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde, who is running for mayor in Angeles City, Pampanga.
His candidacy elicited mixed responses from netizens, with some doubting his ability to serve as an elected official. Others raised concerns about his past issues, particularly those related to his estranged wife. Following Aljur’s filing, Kylie Padilla posted a cryptic message on her Facebook page.
In her post, Kylie shared her thoughts on effective leadership, highlighting the significance of strong family values and personal integrity. She believes that true leadership starts at home, demonstrated through one’s ability to guide and support their family.
Kylie emphasized that a genuine leader instills good values, integrity, and humility in their children, remains loyal and committed to their spouse, and stands firm in their principles despite obstacles. She also stressed the importance of maintaining a close relationship with God and having a heart dedicated to selflessly serving others rather than seeking personal gain.
Meanwhile, Aljur Abrenica believes he must repay their support with honest public service. In an interview, Aljur stated that he feels qualified for the position, despite being an artist. He emphasized the importance of serving his fellow countrymen, declaring, “Panahon na para mag-give back ako para sa mga kababayan natin.” His candidacy reflects his commitment to contribute positively to the community he values.
Aljur is an actor, singer, model, and dancer from a musical family. His father, Alfonso Abrenica Jr., is a musician, and his mother, Amor Guiang, is a member of a band. Although he originally wanted to be a pilot, Aljur’s path changed when he joined the reality talent show StarStruck in 2006, where he won the title of “Ultimate Hunk,” which brought him into the entertainment scene.
