Boobay Aspires to Be as Successful as Vice Ganda

Boobay Opens Up About Career Aspirations on ‘Fast Talk’

BOOBAY – The comedian revealed that he once aspired to achieve the same level of success as his fellow comedians Vice Ganda, Ai Ai Delas Alas, and Eugene Domingo.

Boobay, whose real name is Norman Balbuena, is a popular actor, comedian, and television host known for his lively personality and comedic talent. He is the eldest of four siblings in a humble household; his father was a soldier, and his mother was a retired teacher. After facing challenges from the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1991, which forced his family into an evacuation site for two years, Boobay completed his elementary education in Zambales.

He later studied AB Communication at Saint Louis University in Baguio, where he joined the theater group Tanghalang SLU and received a scholarship. Boobay’s showbiz career began in 2004 with GMA Network’s KiliTV Comedy Hunt, where he became a finalist. Director Cesar Cosme recognized his talent and gave him the stage name “Boobay.” He quickly became a familiar face on GMA Network, hosting programs like Day Off and participating in the satirical newscast May Tamang Balita. In 2013, he joined Celebrity Bluff as a “bluffer,” which helped establish his name in Philippine entertainment.

In the latest episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on October 7, he was asked about whether he feels satisfied with his current accomplishments. He expressed that he hopes to reach similar heights, stating, “Pumapasok din po sa isip ko ‘yon, Tito Boy, na sana dumating ‘yong pagkakataon na maabot ko rin ‘yon.” Despite this, Boobay mentioned that he has found contentment in his current situation, saying, “Pero ‘yon nga, sabi ko kay Lord, kung dito na lang, kuntento na ako. Because I was able to do my purpose in life which is to entertain.”

He also expressed his commitment to giving his best if more opportunities arise, emphasizing he would not disappoint God. Currently, Boobay is set to embark on a series of international shows with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), starting in Taiwan on October 13.
