Doc Willie Ong Will Join the 2025 Senatorial Race

DOC WILLIE ONG – The doctor-vlogger announced that he will be running for senator in the May 2025 midterm elections amid his battle against sarcoma cancer.

Willie Ong is a cardiologist, internist, media figure, and politician known for sharing medical advice on his social media platforms, especially his YouTube channel, which has amassed over 9.5 million subscribers. He gained recognition for running in the Philippine Senate elections in 2019 and for serving as a vice presidential candidate alongside Manila Mayor Isko Moreno in the 2022 elections.

He completed his medical training at the De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute and later obtained a Master’s in Public Health from the University of the Philippines Manila. Ong has held several key medical roles, such as chief resident in internal medicine and chief fellow in cardiology. He has authored multiple medical publications and contributed to various health-related programs on television and radio.

Beyond his medical profession, Ong is also involved in politics, advocating for healthcare and public health initiatives. His political stances include supporting federalism and a tougher approach to criminal justice.

Ong is married to fellow doctor Anna Liza Ramoso, and they have two daughters. Recently, he was diagnosed with sarcoma and is currently receiving treatment, which includes chemotherapy. Amid his battle against sarcoma cancer, the doctor-vlogger announced that he will be running for senator in the May 2025 midterm elections.

“Magfi-file po ako for senator. I’ll be filing for senator sa October 2,” he said. He also mentioned during his Facebook Live that his wife, Liza Ong, is en route to the Philippines to file his candidacy. “Tatakbo tayo, ipapakita natin tunay ang Diyos,” he added.
