ALICE GUO – The photos of ‘sisters’ Alice Guo and Sheila Guo hugging at the Senate went viral on social media.
In the national elections of 2022, Alice Leal Guo, a former mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, was elected to the post. After being connected to Senate investigations into the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) and the purported increase in illegal immigration, she gained nationwide attention.
Since then, internet memes featuring her name have grown commonplace. She was fired from her position by the Ombudsman.
GMA News recently released a footage showing Alice Guo entering the Senate while wearing a helmet and protective armor. The video, which was distributed by the office of Senator Risa Hontiveros, verified Guo’s attendance in the Senate.
Hontiveros had released a court document permitting Guo to attend the sessions last Friday. After being taken into custody in Jakarta, Indonesia, the former mayor was sent back to the Philippines by the relevant authorities.
The emotional solidarity between the two women was evident in the widely shared photos of Alice hugging her “sister” Sheila Guo during the Senate hearing. Sen. Risa Hontiveros chaired the committee, and Alice answered questions from senators in her first appearance at the hearings since her return to the Philippines.
Senators criticized Guo while she was in the Senate for leaving the nation and for her comments made during the debate. Jinggoy Estrada and Senator Joel Villanueva were two of the people that chastised her.
Despite the fact that their fingerprints match, Guo disputed in an earlier article that she is Guo Hua Ping. The controversial politician, according to the NBI, also used a lookalike or doppelganger to avoid capture.
