German National Left by Pinay Wife Sells Empanadas & Cookies to Survive
TATAY EMPANADA – German national sells empanadas and cookies to survive after being abandoned by his Filipina wife.
Recently, Nina Peña, a Facebook user, shared a video of a foreigner selling to buy his basic needs. The story immediately spread like wildfire on social media and elicited comments from the online community.
A German national named Tatay Marco, also known as “Tatay Empanada,” has found a way to support himself after being left by his Filipina wife. Unable to return to his home country due to financial constraints, Tatay Marco now sells empanadas and cookies to make ends meet.
Nine years ago, Tatay Marco married a Filipina, but their relationship ended after two years. Since then, he has struggled financially and found himself stuck in the Philippines. To survive, he began selling homemade empanadas and cookies on the streets of Pasig City.
With the help of food vloggers like Carrie Laine Abad, who shared his story online, Tatay Marco’s small business has gained popularity. What started as a humble street vending effort has now grown into a small stall in front of San Joaquin Kalawaan High School in Pasig City.
He operates the stall every Saturday from 9 AM to 7 PM, and also accepts orders through his Facebook page, Tatay Empanada Official.
Tatay Marco offers five different flavors of empanadas: classic, spicy chicken, spicy tuna, classic tuna, and ham and cheese. Each empanada is sold for just P25. In addition to empanadas, he also sells cookies for P12, as well as hotdog sandwiches, nachos, and other snacks.
Tatay Marco’s business has grown due to the support of the community and social media exposure, allowing him to continue making a living despite the challenges he has faced. His story shows how hard work can help overcome even the toughest of circumstances.
The video has a caption:
“FOREIGNER na Iniwan ng Asawang Pinay at hindi makabalik sa kanyang Bansa ngayon nagbebenta ng Empanada at Cookies para mabuhay.”
