Bureau of Immigration Releases Mugshot of Sheila Guo
SHEILA GUO – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has released the mugshot of the sister of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo, which includes her Chinese name, “Zhang Mier.” Sheila is facing deportation charges in the Philippines for undesirability and misrepresentation, and the BI has labeled her a threat to public safety and national security.
Recently, Indonesian authorities detailed the capture of Sheila Guo and her companion, Cassandra Li Ong, in Batam, an island near Singapore. The two were flagged as suspicious by Indonesian immigration officers, who then coordinated with other agencies after learning about the Philippine government’s case involving Alice Guo. Alice had allegedly fled the Philippines and was reported to be in Indonesia with her companions.
Sheila Guo and Cassandra Li Ong were arrested at Mega Mall Batam Center on August 20, but Indonesian authorities did not locate Alice Guo or her brother Wesley, who are still at large. Senator Raffy Tulfo confirmed that the group had entered Indonesia from Singapore via a cruise ship.
A Singaporean national named Zhang Jie, who allegedly assisted the group by booking their hotel accommodations in Batam, is also wanted in the Philippines. Zhang Jie is the former president of Lucky South 99, an illegal POGO hub in Porac, Pampanga. Indonesian and Philippine authorities are continuing to work together to locate Alice and Wesley Guo, who are believed to still be in Batam.
PAOCC spokesperson Winston Casio mentioned that Indonesian authorities are confident that the Guo siblings have not left Batam. Sheila Guo and Cassandra Li Ong have since returned to the Philippines and are currently under the custody of the Bureau of Immigration.
“Nung nakipag-ugnayan tayo sa mga Immigration authorities ng Indonesia, they are fairly confident na hindi pa nakaka-alis sina Alice at Wesley Guo. Nasa Indonesia pa sila. Nasa loob pa ng Batam itong magkapatid,” Casio said.
