Coco Martin Recommends Baby Giant to Be Part of Goin’ Bulilit
BABY GIANT – The TikToker-turned-actor whose real name is Renz Joshua Baña experienced a significant career breakthrough with the support of Coco Martin, his colleague and director from FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. Coco recommended Renz to the producers of Goin Bulilit, facilitating his entry into the show.
“Ni-recommend po ako, tinawagan po ako ni Direk Coco, and then sabi po niya, ibibigay niya nga raw po ‘yung number ko kay Direk Bobot.” said Renz. “Si Direk Coco po talaga ang naging daan, ipinasa po niya ang number ko sa kanila po,” he added.
Renz acknowledged the transition from Batang Quiapo’s action-packed format to Goin’ Bulilit’s comedy, expressing readiness for both genres. However, the decision to replace Dagul, the original cast member, with Renz sparked controversy. Concerns arose among netizens regarding Renz’s suitability for the show’s young audience, particularly due to his past social media posts deemed inappropriate for children.
“Yes merong adjustment po na nangyari kasi doon sa Batang Quiapo po, puro action po ang ginagawa namin and then lumipat po ng comedy, pero kahit action o comedy okay na okay po ako doon,” he stated.
Critics urged Renz to delete and refrain from creating adult-oriented content, emphasizing the importance of catering to his new demographic—children who would become his primary audience. Despite the initial skepticism, Renz aimed to adapt to his new role and audience expectations.
Meanwhile, Renz Joshua Baña, also known as Baby Giant, is a newcomer in showbiz recognized for his role as Oweng in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo. He resides in Tondo, Manila, with his cousin and fellow vlogger, supporting his family financially through his online content. Renz dreams of securing a better life for his family in Manila and aims to continue his education to become an IT professional.
