Netizen Complains About SSS Salary Loan He Did Not Apply For

Netizen’s Shocking Discovery of an Unauthorized SSS Loan

SALARY LOAN – A netizen’s Facebook post has gone viral after sharing a text message purportedly from the Social Security System (SSS), informing him of a salary loan that he needed to repay.

According to the netizen, initially, he thought the message was a scam, but when he checked his account on the SSS portal, he discovered it was true. He allegedly needed to settle a ₱10,000 salary loan, which surprised him because he claimed he didn’t apply for a loan.

The viral Facebook post described receiving an SMS from SSS about a loan he didn’t apply for. Initially skeptical, he checked his SSS account online and found that someone had taken a loan using his account, resulting in a ₱10,000 debt. He urged others who received similar messages to contact SSS, suspecting it to be an inside job and expressing concern for his safety.

Multiple commenters shared similar experiences or those of their relatives encountering the same issue. They recounted instances where unauthorized loans were taken out, resulting in confusion and financial strain. Some mentioned taking action, such as reporting the issue to HR or SSS and seeking advice on how to resolve it. There were also concerns raised about potential consequences if the matter remained unresolved.

In an exclusive interview with Balita, the complainant said he emailed SSS to report what happened. It was also discovered that the salary loan mentioned in his account dated back to 2011, amounting to ₱2,000, but the interest had grown, reaching ₱10,000. The netizen paid off the entire loan to prevent it from growing further.

“When I told my sister about what happened last week, sinabi nya na bayaran ko na lang daw,” the netizen said in the interview. “Feeling ko matagal na may gumagawa nito. Tapos na-discover lang nong nag-text si SSS,” he added.

The netizen also provided evidence of his email to SSS and their response. As of press time, the viral post has garnered 3.2k reactions, 4.2k shares, and 1.1k comments. SSS, on the other hand, has yet to issue any statement regarding the netizen’s concerns.
