TITO MARS – The controversial social media personality is now part of the action-drama series “Black Rider”.
Tito Mars is a social media personality known for his videos where he shares his views and opinions, and more recently, for taking on eating challenges suggested by netizens. These challenges often involve foods that are common in the diets of ordinary Filipino families, such as sardines, dried fish, and mango with shrimp paste. His reactions to eating these foods have sparked a lot of criticism, with viewers accusing him of disrespecting the food of the less fortunate.
In response to the backlash, Tito Mars explained that he did not intend to disrespect anyone and that he considers himself part of the underprivileged community. Despite his explanations, the controversy has continued, with some people believing that he had no ill intentions, while others feel that he should be more sensitive when creating content related to the culture and lifestyle of others.
Apparently, his negative publicity paved the way for him to venture into mainstream media, as he is now part of the action-drama series “Black Rider”. He made an appearance in the May 30 episode of the series, which airs on GMA.
Prior to his appearance, GMA Public Affairs shared a sneak peek of his portrayal in the series. “Ang sardinas na pagkain ng masa, magiging ugat ng gulo?! Bakit kaya?! Alamin sa #BlackRiderSardinas ngayong Huwebes, 8 PM sa GMA Prime, GMA Public Affairs’ FB/YT livestream at 9:40 PM sa GTV,” the caption noted. In the comment section, netizens are hoping that Tito Mars will get “beaten up” in the scenes so they can vent their frustration on him.
Previously, Tito Mars received a barrage of criticism due to his “sardines eating challenge.” After the backlash, Tito Mars immediately clarified that he was not disrespecting the food of the poor. Some celebrities have also reacted to this, including Kapuso comedy star-TV host Pokwang. Actress-vlogger Ivana Alawi also ate sardines with her hands and reminded everyone to be grateful for whatever food they have because it is a blessing.
