Rowena Guanzon Throws Shade at Male Emcee of MUPH 2024

ROWENA GUANZON – The former COMELEC commissioner wants the “screaming” male emcee of Miss Universe Philippines 2024 not to be hired again.

Alden sparked conversations online with his hosting style during the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 pageant. Clips of his hosting went viral, showcasing moments where he appeared to be shouting while announcing finalists. Despite mixed reactions from netizens, many found his hosting entertaining and praised his charisma and good looks.

Some netizens questioned Alden’s aggressive tone, wondering if he was picking fights or simply stressed. However, others defended him, attributing his energetic hosting to the noisy environment of the Mall of Asia Arena, where the pageant took place. According to Bandera, Alden himself explained that he needed to raise his voice to be heard over the loud audience.

Rowena Guanzon, the former COMELEC commissioner, took to the microblogging site X, formerly known as Twitter, where she expressed her opinion about the “screaming” male emcee of Miss Universe Philippines 2024.

“Sino ba yong male emcee sa Ms Universe Philippines na sigaw ng sigaw ? Dont hire him again. Nakakainis ang boses,” she wrote. Apparently, she did not drop any names, but she was clearly referring to Alden Richards, who was tasked with hosting MUPH 2024 alongside Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Gabriel.

Eventually, she acknowledged that it was indeed Alden. “Oh si Alden pala yon? I am a Kathryn Bernardo fan and enjoyed Hello love goodbye.”

Meanwhile, Rowena Guanzon is a lawyer, politician, and former public official known for her significant contributions to law and governance in the Philippines. She has served in various capacities, most notably as a Commissioner of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), where she played a critical role in overseeing and ensuring the integrity of electoral processes in the country. Before her tenure at COMELEC, she held various government positions, including being the Mayor of Cadiz City in Negros Occidental and a member of the House of Representatives.
