PBBM is Not Familiar with Mayor Alice Guo
MAYOR ALICE GUO ISSUE – President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. stated that he knows all the politicians from Tarlac, but no one seems to know the mayor of Bamban.
In an interview on Thursday, May 16, Marcos said Guo needs to be investigated as he is also puzzled by her identity. “Kilala ko lahat ng mga taga Tarlac na politiko, walang may kilala sa kaniya. Kaya nagtataka kami kung saan nanggaling ito? Bakit ganito ito? Hindi namin malaman,” PBBM said. “Kaya kailangan talagang imbestigahan. So, kasabay ng sa Bureau of Immigration, pati – siguro may magku-kwestyon ng taga citizenship. ‘Yun lahat iimbestigahan natin ‘yan kasama ang imbestigasyon, hearing na ginagawa ng Senado,” he added.
To recall, during a Senate hearing, Senator Risa Hontiveros questioned the absence of school and hospital records for Guo. When asked by the senator where she was born and which school provider her homeschool teacher was connected to, Guo responded that she “did not know” and “could not remember.”
It was revealed that the mayor was registered at the age of 17 as being born at home, and she also did not have a diploma since she continued her education through homeschooling, taught by a tutor while living on a “farm.” The scrutiny of Guo’s identity followed an investigation into her alleged involvement in a raided Philippine Offshore Gaming Operation (POGO) in the province.
Meanwhile, House Assistant Majority Leader and AKO Bicol party-list Representative Raul Angelo “Jil” Bongalon suggested during a media briefing on Monday, May 13, that the House of Representatives might conduct a similar investigation into Mayor Alice Guo’s case, following worrying findings from the Senate. Bongalon highlighted the seriousness of the issue, noting that Guo, allegedly of Chinese origin, registered herself 17 years after her birth, indicating a misuse of laws and procedures. He emphasized this as a national security issue needing government attention. Bongalon also urged the Commission on Elections to carefully check candidates for the 2025 midterm elections to ensure their honesty.
