ABS-CBN fans criticize Camille Villar over Partnership with ALLTV
CAMILLE VILLAR – Fans of the Kapamilya Network expressed their disappointment regarding the recent partnership between the two networks.
On April 23, 2024, executives from ABS-CBN and ALLTV, owned by the Villar family, finalized a deal to broadcast TV Patrol and other popular shows from the Kapamilya Network on ALLTV. Starting May 13, ALLTV will feature a selection of beloved Kapamilya teleseryes from Jeepney TV at various times throughout the day, including primetime, alongside the long-standing news program TV Patrol, according to an ABS-CBN statement.
At the contract signing ceremony, All Value Holdings Corp. president and CEO Camille Villar gave a speech expressing pride and excitement about the new partnership between AMBS, ALLTV, and ABS-CBN. She highlighted the inclusion of ‘TV Patrol,’ the Philippines’ longest-running news program, on ALLTV and anticipated future successful collaborations.
Despite the optimistic speeches, some netizens criticized Villar, reminding others of her role in opposing ABS-CBN’s franchise renewal. A user named JPT simply commented, “Never Forget.”
Netizen Ronald remarked that Rep. Camille Villar of Las Piñas, who was among the lawmakers that denied the franchise renewal of ABS-CBN during Duterte’s presidency, is rumored to be considering a Senate run in the 2025 elections, as her mother, Sen. Cynthia Villar, reaches her term limit. Commenter Bisdak criticized Camille Villar for her hypocrisy, pointing out the contrast between her previous vote against the renewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise and her current promotional activities.
Meanwhile, ALLTV is a television network in the Philippines. It was launched in 2022 by the Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), a company owned by the Villar family, which is prominent in the country’s business and political sectors. The network aims to provide a variety of content, including news, entertainment, and educational programs. It entered the Philippine media landscape with significant attention due to its ties to the Villar family and its potential impact on the country’s media and entertainment industry.
