Rumors are surfacing that It’s Showtime only has a 6-month contract with GMA
IT’S SHOWTIME – A rumor has been spreading that the noontime show has only a six-month contract with GMA Network.
“It’s Showtime” is a Philippine noontime variety show produced by ABS-CBN Studios. It premiered on October 24, 2009, with hosts including Vhong Navarro, Anne Curtis, and Vice Ganda. Originally a talent competition program, it later evolved into a noontime show. The show currently airs on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, GMA Network, GTV, TFC, and GMA Pinoy TV.
It features various segments and mini-games, alongside performances and celebrity appearances. The program resumed broadcast on June 13, 2020, after a hiatus due to the network’s shutdown. Notable hosts include Vice Ganda, Karylle, Jhong Hilario, and Ryan Bang. Over the years, it has undergone several format changes and studio relocations.
On March 20, 2024, a historic contract signing occurred between the Kapamilya noontime show and the Kapuso Network. Then, on April 6, the show began airing on GMA 7.
However, rumors have been spreading that “It’s Showtime” has only a six-month contract with GMA Network. Additionally, GMA allegedly has the right to terminate their contract with “It’s Showtime.”
Entertainment writer Salve Asis raised questions about whether GMA 7 has the option to terminate the contract or if the contract with GMA is indeed only for six months but renewable. “Totoo bang may option diumano to terminate ang GMA 7 sa contract nila? Or totoo rin bang six months lang ang contract nila sa GMA pero renewable?” saad ng entertainment writer na si Salve Asis sa kanyang article.
As of now, there’s been no reaction from “It’s Showtime” or the Kapuso Network regarding these rumors. To recall, It’s Showtime replaced the timeslot vacated by the defunct show, Tahanang Pinakamasaya led by Isko Moreno, Paolo Contis, Buboy Villar and Betong Sumaya.
