Miss Universe PH 2023 Michelle Dee dispels rumors she figured in an accident in El Salvador
MICHELLE DEE – The country’s representative in the 2023 Miss Universe pageant denied rumors of being involved in an accident in El Salvador.
Michelle Daniela Marquez Dee is an actress, model, television presenter, host, and beauty queen. She is the daughter of Frederick “Derek” Dee, a businessman, film producer, and former actor, and Melanie Marquez, an actress and the winner of Miss International 1979.
Her lineage connects her to influential figures such as Dee C. Chuan, the founder of the Philippines’ Chinabank, and her maternal uncle, former PBA player Joey Marquez. Michelle also shares a close kinship with actress and fellow beauty queen Winwyn Marquez, her maternal cousin and Joey’s daughter.
She first entered the realm of pageantry when she joined Miss World Philippines 2019, later representing the Philippines at the Miss World 2019 pageant in London, England, where she reached the top 12.
Currently, Michelle Dee is representing the country in Miss Universe 2023. On Monday, November 6, the actress-beauty queen turned to X (formerly known as Twitter) to reassure her fans and followers that she was okay. This came after rumors surfaced that she was involved in an accident in El Salvador, where the highly-anticipated pageant is being held.
“[I don’t know] where the rumor came from that I got into an accident, but don’t believe it!” she noted. Apparently, she did not elaborate on the claims. “We’re all good!” Then, fans of the beauty queen-actress sent their well-wishes and support to Michelle Dee.
Previously, Dee and other candidates of Miss Universe 2023 toured Playa Maculis in El Salvador. The country’s representative will compete on Nov. 18 (Nov. 19 in the Philippines) against 90 other delegates to inherit the crown from reigning queen R’Bonney Gabriel.
