The Motion for Reconsideration filed by “It’s Showtime” has been rejected
MTRCB – The Movie and Television Review Classification Board has rejected the Motion for Reconsideration filed by the Kapamilya noontime program, “It’s Showtime.” This decision is related to the agency’s earlier ruling to suspend the program for 12 days from airing on national TV.
Previously, GMA Network, Inc. and ABS-CBN Corporation filed a Motion for Reconsideration, seeking relief from the Board’s previous decision dated August 17, 2023, regarding the July 25, 2023 episode of “It’s Showtime.”
However, the agency denied the Motion for Reconsideration as they firmly believed that the behavior of Vice Ganda, Ion Perez, and Ryan Bang on air during the show was deemed “indecent” and “inappropriate” in the presence of children. This was cited as a violation of Section 3 (c) of Presidential Decree No. 1986 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
During a budget hearing, board member Atty. Paulino Cases Jr. hinted that they would be issuing a decision regarding the motion for reconsideration of the Kapamilya program. In the said hearing, Senator Jinggoy Estrada also inquired with MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto about concerns from some quarters that the 12-day suspension imposed on “It’s Showtime” was too long.
Chairperson Lala, the daughter of Tito Sotto, responded, “There are also many who have suggested that the show should be canceled or that the duration of the suspension should be extended.”
Meanwhile, there has been no statement issued by the management of “It’s Showtime” regarding the agency’s decision. Apparently, the noontime show may be off the air for 12 days as the board’s decision dated August 17 has been affirmed.
