Post of Ces Drilon On Losing Job Following Denial of ABS-CBN Franchise Bid
CES DRILON – The Kapamilya reporter revealed her side on losing her job after the ABS-CBN franchise bid was denied.
After at least twelve (12) hearings to discuss the issues thrown at ABS-CBN network, the House Franchise Committee has voted on whether to grant the network a fresh 25-year franchise or not.
Last July 10, a 70-11 voting of the members of the House Franchise Committee left countless hearts broken. Eleven (11) thousand employees of the network are at risk of losing their jobs.

There are those who are heartbroken over the decision of the House. On the other side, there are those who respected the stand of the lawmakers.
Last July 15, a town hall meeting was held by the ABS-CBN executive and employees. Following it, a statement announcing the start of the employee retrenchment was released by the management.
ABS-CBN News reporter Ces Drilon is one of those who’ll be losing their jobs following the franchise denial. On social media, her post caught the attention of people.
“This was one of the toughest days I had to face. Telling fellow kapamilyas that they would lose their jobs by end of August. I lost mine too.”
According to Ces, what is painful to them is losing a job they love. She stressed that they go to work with excitement and energy because they are passionate of their job.
Ces Drilon revealed that people message her and one of them is Jimmy Encarnacion, her cameraman during a 2008 risky encounter with the rebels, sent a message to her. Here’s what the ABS-CBN reporter posted:
“He said ‘Ma’am Ces nabasa ko po. Nalungkot ako. Alam ko po gaano nyo minahal work nyo at ABSCBN. Makakabangon po tayo mam.’”
In her post, Ces expressed her gratitude to ABS-CBN for all the opportunities given to her in her 31 years in service. She stressed that the network nurtured her and gave her the chance to pursue her “calling”.
