Nursing Student Helps Pregnant Woman to Give Birth
A nursing student goes viral and earns praises online for helping a pregnant woman to give birth to her baby.
Recently, a Facebook post by nursing student Halle Del Prado has garnered widespread praise from netizens as she shared her experience of assisting a woman who unexpectedly went into labor while they were riding a jeepney.
The story highlights the selflessness and dedication of Halle and her friend, who swiftly took action to aid the woman during her time of need.
Upon boarding the jeepney, Halle and her companion encountered a distressed woman who appeared to be struggling to breathe and exhibiting signs of labor. Halle recalls that the pregnant woman cried out, indicating that she was about to give birth.
In a desperate attempt to seek help, Halle’s friend immediately disembarked to call an ambulance located nearby. However, their efforts were in vain as the ambulance was reportedly occupied.
Left with no other choice, Halle decided to assist the woman by providing care right in the middle of the jeepney.
With calm determination, Prado initiated the necessary steps, ensuring proper hand hygiene before assisting the pregnant woman. She observed as the woman’s water broke and witnessed the visible presence of the baby’s head with every cry.
“Agad agad naman bumaba ang kaklse ko para habulin ang ambulansya na malapit saamin, pero wala din naidulot dahil may laman daw ang ambulance. Wala na akong choice kung hindi pahigain nalang si ate sa gitna ng jeep as I performed my hand hygiene. Nakita ko na pumutok na ang panubigan niya at kada iiri siya ay nakikita ko na ang ulo ng bata,” Prado said.
Despite being first-year nursing students with limited experience, Halle and her friend were driven by their compassionate hearts and a sense of duty to help their fellow human beings.
“As first year nursing students, we didn’t had much of an experience but it was in our heart and duty to help our fellow people no matter the experience. Hinding hindi ko makalimutan ang kamay ko at ang sapatos ng kaklase ko na puro dugo, at ang takot na naramdaman namin,” she added.
Although the situation was far from ideal, the nursing student and her friend successfully managed the delivery within the confines of the jeepney. However, the crucial step of transferring the woman and newborn to a medical facility remained.
Thankfully, they were able to arrange for the immediate transport of the mother and child to a hospital, ensuring their safety and well-being.
