Naya Rivera Update — According to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, her disappearance was “just a tragic drowning”.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department gave an update on the quest for former Glee actress Naya Rivera, saying that her disappearance was “just a tragic drowning”.
This, as Sgt. Shannon King was certain that Naya Rivera was drowned at Lake Piru in South California.
Sgt. King on Sunday (US time) told PEOPLE that there was “no evidence” to say that Naya left the water, adding that it appeared to be 100% “just a tragic drowning”.
Meanwhile, authorities at the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department warned the public not to look for Naya Rivera at Lake Piru or even on its surrounding area.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department warned those who had an intention to search for the actress by themselves that Lake Piru in Southern California was closed, the temperature in the said area was already in the 90’s, and the terrain around Lake Piru was “very steep and rugged”.
Moreover, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said that their teams — volunteers and public safety staff from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, the United States Coast Guard, and specialized dive teams from San Luis Obispo County, Tulare County, and Los Angeles County — were “well-equipped” and “highly-trained”.
