One of the government agencies that Filipinos may turn to in times of need is the Department of Social Welfare and Development. More commonly called DSWD, it runs several programs which you can check below.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development has several cash assistance offers for Filipinos who are in need of help. The government agency has carefully set the beneficiaries under each program.
1. AICS or the DSWD Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation
The government agency launched this program that aims to help Filipinos who are in crisis situations like medical emergencies. Under this program, a Filipino in a crisis situation may apply for medical cash assistance, transportation cash assistance, burial cash assistance, or transportation cash assistance.
2. Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps)
The Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program or more commonly called 4Ps is one of the biggest anti-poverty programs of the government. Millions of people are 4Ps members and they receive cash assistance from the government on a monthly basis.
3. Financial Assistance for Solo Parents
Solo parents may turn to the DSWD for assistance in raising their children alone. Under this program which is in line with the government’s call for support for solo parents, a beneficiary of the program may receive P1,000.00 monthly.
4. Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens
Indigent Filipinos who are 60 years old and above and have no source of income may seek assistance from DSWD. Each beneficiary of this program receives P500 every month from the government agency.
5. Financial Assistance for PWDs or Persons with Disabilities
Persons with disabilities (PWDs) may obtain some privilege in availing some services or purchasing certain products. The program covers both mentally and physically disabled individuals.
