Meet lola Nancy Regis, a lawyer at 65
NANCY REGIS – The 65-year-old lola is now a successful lawyer after she recently passed the 2022 bar exams.
Four decades ago, Lola Nancy made the decision to postpone her dream of becoming a lawyer in order to prioritize taking care of her three daughters. She got pregnant at the age of 23, and since then, her daughters’ happiness became her main focus rather than her own dreams.
It was 28 years ago when Lola Nancy was finally ready to pursue her long-held dream of becoming a lawyer, after receiving a blessing she had been praying for – a baby boy. From then on, Lola Nancy devoted her time to taking care of her children and putting them through school until they became professionals.
“Life was hard, life was tough but they all made it through,” shared Napoleon, Lola Nancy’s son, in a Facebook post. Just as Lola Nancy was about to pursue her long-held dream of becoming a lawyer 8 years ago, she suddenly faced a health condition that almost took her life.
“Major Operations were done, went through several treatments, therapies, outstanding bills here and there, took medications religiously and prayed day after day,” Napoleon recounted. After a year of battling her illness, she finally recovered. After her recovery, Lola Nancy worked as a government employee and studied law on weekends until she officially graduated and became a Juris Doctor in 2020.
“We said to her that you have fought the good fight already and it’s time to live a stress free, healthy and happy retired life but no, she refused to settle there,” said Napoleon. “In the previous BAR exam (nov 2022) my mother took the test for the very first time at the age of 65 years old carrying with her all our support, with not an ounce of pressure from us,” he added.
On April 14, the Supreme Court released the results, and Lola Nancy was one of the successful examinees who passed the bar exams.
