Globe 5G mobile services will be available in some locations in Makati and BGC starting next month.
Globe officially announced that some areas in Bonifacio Global City and Makati will be experiencing its 5G mobile services starting next month.
This, as Globe’s 5G mobile services will be initially available to its Platinum and Postpaid subscribers, adding that its service will be made “progressively accessible” to selected areas in Metro Manila and even to its prepaid customers.
In a report on Gizguide, more affordable 5G-capable devices will be available soon. Although the current 4G LTE SIM cards of Globe Telecom were “5G-ready” as this would make its shift to its new technology “quick and hassle-free”.
Globe Telecom also said that customers wouldn’t be charged for connecting to the 5G network as the usage would be from its customers’ Postpaid or Platinum plans data wallet allocation.
According to Albert De Larrazabal, the Chief Commercial Officer of Globe Telecom, the company was ready to enable its subscribers to succeed during the pandemic by rolling out its “highly-anticipated technology”.
Globe Telecom became the first telecommunications company in the Philippines and Southeast Asia to introduce 5G technology to the public after launching its AirFiber to the company’s broadband customers. Moreover, Globe Telecom became the first telecommunications company in the Philippines to introduce a 5G-ready smartphone, the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G.
