Vehicular accident in South Cotabato
SOUTH COTABATO VEHICULAR ACCIDENT – Two (2) people died on the spot and fourteen (14) were injured after a cargo truck plowed into at least 14 vehicles and pedestrians, mostly students of a private school waiting for a ride, along a busy national highway in Tupi.
According to Rolly Aquino, head of South Cotabato Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the 10-wheeler cargo truck was on its way to Koronadal City from General Santos City when it lost its brake as it reached the descending portion of the highway, plowing into vehicles and pedestrians, past 6 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2022.
“We are still trying to determine the exact number of fatalities and those injured,” Aquino said in a radio interview.
Aquino stated that the wayward truck crashed into a small car, hitting some of the students from the South East Asia Institute of Technology Incorporated (SEAIT), who were waiting for a ride on the side of the road.
At least 14 vehicles were involved in the vehicular accident including three SUVs, three pick-up trucks, a Yellow Bus, a tricycle, five motorcycles, and the wayward cargo truck, according to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) in South Cotabato.
