Here’s the reaction of Ping Lacson to Loren Legarda’s “support” for CPP-NPA-NDF
PING LACSON – The former senator disagreed with the stand of Senator Loren Legarda on CPP-NPA-NDF.
The Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) rebellion is the world’s longest ongoing communist insurgency and is the largest, most prominent communist conflict in the Philippines.
The history of the rebellion can be traced back to March 29, 1969, when Jose Maria Sison’s newly formed CPP entered an alliance with a small armed group led by Bernabe Buscayno.
Buscayno’s group was renamed the New People’s Army (NPA) and became the armed wing of the CPP.
National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), on the other hand, serves as the political wing of the CPP.
Recently, Senator Loren Legarda admitted that she once worked with the NDF.
“I have worked with the NDF and I’m not ashamed of it. I agreed with them on many subject matters that are close to our hearts,” she said.
She then stressed that there’s no law proving that the leftists are “enemies of the state.”
Her controversial statement earned the reaction of renowned personalities including religious leader Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and Senator Ronald “Bato” dela Rosa.
Meanwhile, former Senator Panfilo “Ping” Lacson also reacted with the stand of Loren Legarda regarding the CPP-NPA-NDF.
“Senator Legarda is a friend and I respect her opinion but I cannot for the life of me agree with her stand, apparently articulated by her statement that the CPP-NPA-NDF is not an enemy of the state,” Ping Lacson said.
Legarda has yet to issue any statement amid the criticisms she’s receiving following her remark on CPP-NPA-NDF.
