EJ OBIENA — Here’s what Filipino Olympian Ernest John Obiena said after the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) announced that he has been reinstated to the national team.
The PSC announced on Wednesday that the Filipino olympian has been formally reinstated to the national team after the PATAFA (Philippine Athletic Track and Field Association) endorsed his re-inclusion to the PSC.
Following the announcement from the PSC, Obiena took to social media to thank PATAFA and the PSC for reinstating him to the national team.
In a statement, he said that the decision to reinstate him to the national team was “long awaited and just.” He also said that he looks forward as he works work tirelessly to bring more glory to the country.
“Whilst I shall properly leave the past in the past; I believe the facts have spoken,” he wrote in the caption on his social media post. “The Commission on Audit has spoken. My fellow countrymen have spoken. And my team and I have proven our dedication with our performances on the world stage and a first-ever World Championships medal.“
To recall, he was removed by PATAFA from the national team pool after allegations of misusing allowance allotted to him.
