Unoccupied Property Receives ₱2K Electricity Bill
A netizen shared a surprising experience involving an electricity bill charged to a house owned by his godfather, who passed away more than ten years ago.
According to the post, the house has been unoccupied since 2017, with no appliances inside and no electricity being used during that time. Despite this, an electric bill amounting to ₱2,207.85 was issued, leaving the family confused and concerned.
The netizen explained that there are no illegal connections, and the electric meter has not been moving, suggesting that no electricity has been consumed. Because of this, the unexpected charge raised serious questions about how the bill was computed. He expressed frustration, noting that the only sounds coming from the house are from small animals like geckos and lizards, which made the situation even more puzzling.

In a follow-up, the netizen said this was the first time such an incident had occurred, making it even more shocking for the family. Given that the house has been empty for several years, they could not understand how any electricity usage could have been recorded. It is believed that the issue may be due to an incorrect meter reading, and the electric company is reportedly already investigating the matter.
The post quickly gained attention online and received a mix of reactions from other users. Many expressed disbelief and joked about the situation, while others speculated that the bill may have been estimated or incorrectly calculated. Some found humor in the story, especially in the mention of animals as the only “occupants” of the house.

As of now, the electric company has not released an official statement regarding the issue.
