Nikki Gil Opens Up About Her Daughter’s Rare Illness
NIKKI GIL – The former VJ opened up about the emotional journey she and her husband, BJ Albert, experienced after their daughter, Maddie, was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease, a rare and potentially serious condition that affects children, particularly those under the age of five.
In an Instagram post on April 14, Nikki revealed that the diagnosis came as a shock to them, as they had never even heard of the disease before. For Nikki and BJ, seeing their little girl in pain, undergoing medical tests, and being hooked up to IVs was incredibly difficult, and they described it as one of the hardest challenges they have ever faced as parents.
Kawasaki disease can cause severe complications in the heart and blood vessels, and while its exact cause is unknown, it is essential to catch it early for effective treatment. In her post, Nikki acknowledged the fear and uncertainty they felt but also stressed the moments of strength and peace that carried them through the ordeal. Despite the distressing circumstances, she credited their faith for providing them with the calm they needed and shared her deep gratitude for the healing Maddie has experienced.

Nikki also took the time to thank everyone who reached out to their family during this trying time, expressing how much the support meant to them. From the heartfelt prayers and encouraging messages to the meals and visits, she said each gesture made a tremendous impact. Special mention was given to Maddie’s medical team for their dedication and care.

Now that Maddie is recovering at home, Nikki shared her joy at being back together as a family, although they know the healing process is ongoing. She ended the post by reflecting on their overwhelming sense of gratitude, affirming that God’s goodness was evident throughout the entire experience. Nikki and BJ welcomed Maddie in October 2021, and they are also parents to a son named Finn, born in 2017.
