Kylie Padilla Admits She Didn’t Believe in Marriage, Wasn’t Ready to Marry Aljur Abrenica

Kylie Padilla Reflects on Her Past with Aljur Abrenica

KYLIE PADILLA – The actress admitted that she never truly believed in marriage and wasn’t ready when she married her former husband, actor Aljur Abrenica.

In an honest conversation with her aunt, BB Gandanghari — uploaded to YouTube on April 3, 2025 — Kylie opened up about the realities of her failed marriage and how it affected her both personally and professionally.

Kylie candidly shared that she left showbiz at the peak of her career because she was in love and pregnant while filming Encantadia. Wanting to focus on building a family, she stepped away from the limelight. However, she acknowledged the disappointment felt by her family and fans.

When asked whether she had truly wanted to get married, Kylie laughed nervously before admitting, “I wasn’t ready to get married ‘coz I didn’t really believe in marriage. But to make everyone else happy, we got married.” She said she would have been content simply living together and working on their relationship without getting married. To her, marriage represented a deep, lifelong commitment — one she felt was missing in their union.

She revealed that the turning point came during the pandemic, when couples had no choice but to face each other without distractions. “Na-test nga kami and we failed. What a big mistake,” Kylie said, later clarifying with humor that despite everything, she wouldn’t call it a complete mistake, as it brought her two beloved sons, Alas and Axl.

Kylie acknowledged that both she and Aljur have since moved on — he is now in a relationship with actress AJ Raval and is pursuing a political career. Kylie, meanwhile, is embracing life as a single mother. She admitted that juggling work and motherhood is exhausting, and she regrets missing moments with her children due to her demanding schedule.

Looking ahead, Kylie hopes for a partner who can be a dependable provider — someone who will allow her to rest and focus on raising her children. Laughing, she added, “Kaya naiisip ko na rin, I have to find a provider that can give me that. Yung masasabi na, ‘O, sige, magpahinga ka na. Pag narinig ko na yun, ‘Oh my god, papakasalan na kita.”

Kylie and Aljur were married in December 2018 and officially separated in June 2021, ending their eight-year relationship and three-year marriage.
