Benhur Abalos Receives Endorsement from Ai Ai Delas Alas
AI AI DELAS ALAS – The Kapuso Comedy Concert Queen has publicly expressed her support for former Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Benhur Abalos, who is running for senator in the upcoming 2025 elections.
In a video shared on Abalos’ official Facebook page on April 29, Ai Ai explained why she strongly supports his candidacy. The comedienne began with a light-hearted remark, saying, “Ako na broken heart pero I have recovered. Na sana I’ll find someone like Secretary Benhur.” Though humorous, her message quickly turned sincere as she highlighted Abalos’ advocacy for women’s rights.
According to Ai Ai, Abalos is someone who actively fights for women, especially those who are mistreated. “Lumalaban siya para sa kababaihan. Fighting for our rights and protection. ‘Yong mga babaeng inaapi, ipinagtatanggol ni Benhur, my love and solid senator,” she said. Her endorsement adds a personal and relatable layer to Abalos’ campaign, emphasizing his commitment to social issues and marginalized sectors.
Further strengthening his senatorial bid, Abalos also received an endorsement from former Vice President Leni Robredo, a prominent advocate for good governance and public service. In a separate statement, Robredo praised Abalos for his quiet but consistent support for Naga City, particularly during the challenges brought by Typhoon Kristine. She noted that he visited the city several times to offer help — without fanfare — showing his genuine concern for affected communities.
Robredo acknowledged her long-standing friendship with Abalos and encouraged her supporters to include him among their senatorial choices. While some of her followers may disagree with the endorsement due to political differences, Robredo remained firm in her decision, stressing that it was based on mutual respect and trust.
