Vice Ganda Declines PGT Judging Role Due to TV5?

Alleged Reason of Vice Ganda for Rejecting PGT

VICE GANDA – The Unkabogable comedian is at the center of online speculation after Ogie Diaz reported on his showbiz vlog, Ogie Diaz Showbiz Update, that Vice allegedly turned down a judging role for the upcoming Pilipinas Got Talent (PGT) Season 7. The show, hosted by Robi Domingo and Melai Cantiveros, feature Freddie M. Garcia (FMG), Eugene Domingo, Donny Pangilinan, and Kathryn Bernardo as judges.

According to co-host Tita Jegs, Vice was initially part of the lineup but backed out upon learning that PGT would air on TV5. Ogie Diaz suggested that Vice’s decision might stem from lingering disappointment with the network. He recalled that It’s Showtime was previously scheduled on GMA-7 but was later moved to a less favorable afternoon slot on TV5. The timeslot was occupied by Wil To Win before Frontline Pilipinas, which Vice may have perceived as a downgrade.

This alleged issue with TV5 may have influenced Vice’s reluctance to engage in any projects associated with the network. However, in a past interview from 2023, Vice clarified that while he was disappointed with TV5’s decision, he held no resentment.

“Ay wala. Wala akong galit sa TV5. Nalungkot ako sa naging desisyon ng TV5 kasi siyempre hindi pabor sa amin ‘yon eh, siyempre sa buhay naman, mas masaya tayo kapag ang mga nangyayari eh pabor sa atin, pero, hindi sa lahat ng pagkakataon, eh magiging pabor sa ‘yo ang oras, ang pangyayari, ang mga desisyon. May mga pagkakataong may mapapaborang iba. Masakit man, malungkot man sa damdamin pero kailangan mong tanggapin ‘yon at kailangan mong irespeto ‘yon,” Vice said.

He also expressed gratitude for TV5, acknowledging the network’s significant support in the past. “Minsan sa buhay namin nakaramdam kami ng pagdiriwang at kasiyahan dahil sa tulong nila. And that will forever be one great reasons to be grateful to them. Maraming-maraming salamat sa TV5,” he added.

As of now, neither Vice Ganda nor TV5 has issued an official statement regarding the matter.
