Countless Pinoys Rally Behind Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte amid Arrest, Transfer of Custody to ICC
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The former Philippine President told his worried supporters to just relax as everything has an end.
Beyond the expectation of countless Filipinos, former Pres. Duterte who has been a subject of the investigation of the International Criminal Court (ICC) was arrested on Monday. He just arrived from Hong Kong when the authorities of the Philippine National Police (PNP) facilitated his arrest as assistance to the Interpol.

The arrest of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) sparked countless headlines. It also earned different reactions from the Filipinos including incumbent politicians. The Philippine government was bashed over the turn of events.

Malacañang previously defended the government on the arrest of former Pres. Duterte saying that the state only did its job. Palace Press Officer Atty. Claire Castro also cited that Duterte’s case is different as there are accusations against him.
According to Catro, the legal process would either give justice to the accused or the victims. She stressed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos did not betray anyone in the move of the government to respond to the Interpol.

For Senator Bato dela Rosa, Pres. Bongbong Marcos allegedly committed “betrayal to the max” over Duterte’s arrest. The former chief of the PNP said he will avail the protection that the Senate can extend to him as an institution in case the ICC would also issue an arrest warrant against him.
Dela Rosa was the chief of the PNP which was the main implementer of the war on drugs of the Duterte administration. The staunch campaign of the previous admin is linked to thousands of deaths.

Former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is currently detained at the ICC detention facility in Scheveningen. Based on a report on Inquirer, his daughter, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, has visited him and told him that his supporters are worried about his situation now.
”Sabihin mo sa kanila, ‘relax lang, may hangganan ang lahat. There will be a day of reckoning for all,”’ the Vice President said referring to former Pres. Duterte’s message for his supporters.
The former President has only one complaint which is his longing for Pinoy food. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed that former Pres. Duterte wants her to come home to the Philippines immediately.
