Kim Chiu Accused of Taking a Jab at Former President Duterte Over “Dasurv!” Remark

Kim Chiu Denies Taking a Dig at Duterte Over “Dasurv!” Remark

KIM CHIU – The actress and television host faced backlash from a netizen who claimed she indirectly criticized former President Rodrigo Duterte during a segment on “It’s Showtime.”

The controversy began after Kim used the term “Dasurv!” while delivering her lines in the March 12 episode. While speaking to the audience, she said, “Kung feeling nila ay hindi pa dumarating ang tamang panahon para sa kanila, ang masasabi namin, ‘Dasurv!’” The audience responded with laughter, and the episode carried the hashtag #ShowtimeDasurvRumesbak.

Shortly after, a netizen accused Kim of referring to Duterte, linking her remarks to the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) recent arrest order against the former president. The netizen alleged that Kim implied Duterte “deserved” to be jailed, questioning how she could say such a thing despite his 30 million supporters.

In response, Kim firmly denied the claim, expressing her frustration on X (formerly Twitter). She wrote, “Hala nakakaloka! Bat ako nasali dyan?!!! Like o to the M to the G!!!! Busy ako sa ibang bagay. Dyosko wag nyoko isali sa ganyan. Parang awa nyo na. Ang gulo na po ng mundonh ibabaw. wag na tayo dumagdag. Dyosko nalanh talaga.”

Many netizens defended Kim, pointing out that her statement had no connection to Duterte. The netizen later retracted the claim and issued a public apology, acknowledging the mistake and emphasizing the importance of fact-checking before making accusations.

Several netizens urged people to be responsible citizens and avoid spreading false information. Despite fans encouraging her to take legal action against the accuser, Kim has not indicated whether she plans to pursue a complaint.

Meanwhile, Duterte was surrendered to the International Criminal Court (ICC) on March 12, 2025, after being arrested by Philippine authorities under a warrant for crimes against humanity.
