Arlene Brosas Demands Apology from Jimmy Bondoc Over Misogynistic Remarks
JIMMY BONDOC – The singer and senatorial aspirant is facing criticism from Gabriela party-list Representative Arlene Brosas for his alleged misogynistic remarks toward TV5 news anchor Gretchen Ho.
On February 17, Bondoc appeared on the show Morning Matters with Gretchen Ho to discuss his Senate candidacy. When asked about the issues surrounding another senatorial candidate, Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, Bondoc referred to him as the “face of injustice.” He also made a controversial comment, saying, “Ayaw kitang kaaway, masyado kang maganda eh,” and expressed hope that the courts would soon set bail for Quiboloy, as most of the charges against him were bailable.
Brosas quickly responded by condemning Bondoc’s remarks in a Facebook post, describing them as misogynistic. She criticized Bondoc’s comments, linking them to the broader culture of sexism often seen in some political circles. She pointed out that such remarks are frequently used to deflect difficult issues and trivialize serious questions posed by the media.

Brosas stated that candidates for public office should demonstrate higher standards of respect, particularly toward women and children. She argued that anyone who cannot show respect for women is unfit to serve in public office. In her post, she demanded a public apology from Bondoc, stressing that his behavior raised doubts about his qualifications to be a legislator.

As of now, Bondoc has not responded to Brosas’ call for an apology or provided any statement regarding the issue. Public attention remains on whether he will address the allegations.

Meanwhile, misogynistic remarks refer to comments or attitudes that show hatred, dislike, or prejudice against women. These remarks often demean, belittle, or objectify women, perpetuating harmful stereotypes and reinforcing gender inequality. Misogyny can manifest through negative language, insults, or even jokes that disrespect women and their roles in society.
