TBA Studios Announces Jericho Rosales as Quezon
JERICHO ROSALES – TBA Studios has officially announced that Kapamilya actor Jericho Rosales will portray former President Manuel Luis Quezon in the upcoming historical film Quezon, directed by Jerrold Tarog. This film is part of the Bayaniverse, the same cinematic universe that brought audiences Heneral Luna and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.
In a Facebook post shared on February 18, TBA Studios introduced Jericho as the iconic Filipino leader, sparking excitement for the film’s release in 2025. The announcement generated mixed reactions from netizens—some expressed high anticipation for key scenes, such as Quezon’s conflict with Emilio Aguinaldo that led to the exhumation of Andrés Bonifacio’s body. Others had reservations about Jericho’s casting, with some expecting a different actor for the role. However, while his portrayal might disrupt continuity, many acknowledged his talent and capability to bring the character to life.

Production for the film is set to begin in March 2025, following TBA Studios’ initial announcement in January. President Manuel Quezon is widely recognized as the first President of the Philippines under the Commonwealth government and is also known as the “Father of the National Language.” His administration played a crucial role in establishing a national language for the country. Before his presidency, Quezon was also involved in the Philippine-American War, which began in 1899.

Meanwhile, Jericho Rosales is a renowned actor, singer, songwriter, and film producer, widely known for his roles in romantic dramas. He first gained fame after winning the Mr. Pogi pageant in 1996 and was later introduced by Star Magic as part of its fourth batch. His breakout role as Angelo Buenavista in the iconic series Pangako Sa ‘Yo (2000) significantly boosted his career.
Recognized for his leading-man roles, Rosales starred in several successful TV series, including Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas, Dahil May Isang Ikaw, The Legal Wife, and Bridges of Love. He has also earned the title of “Asian Drama King” due to his popularity across Asia, particularly in countries like Malaysia, Peru, and Colombia, where his shows have aired.
