Housewife Seeks Help After Discovering Business in Her BIR Records
BIR – A housewife updating her records at the Bureau of Internal Revenue was shocked to discover that a business was registered under her name.
“Yna,” who has been unemployed for years, was disheartened to learn that BIR records listed her as the owner of an auto service and repair shop—something she never applied for. “Nasiraan na rin po ako ng loob kasi kumbaga lahat na lang po ng BIR pinuntahan ko pero wala po silang maipaliwanag kung bakit po ganun ang nangyayari na nagkakaroon po ng business name dun sa pangalan ko po mismo na hindi naman po talaga ako yung nag-apply,” she said.
Her main concern was the possibility of being held accountable for unpaid taxes linked to a business she never owned. Worried about the financial and legal consequences, she sought help from Kapuso Action Man to clarify the situation.

Upon investigation, it was found that a business had been registered under her name in 2010, with records showing payments at the Business Permits and Licensing Office (BPLO) in Valenzuela. However, there was no indication that the business remained active beyond the initial registration.
To resolve the issue, the BIR advised Yna to file BIR Form 1905 to formally close the business and update her records. She was also instructed to process her documents at the national level to ensure that any outstanding cases linked to her name would be cleared.

Grateful for the assistance, Yna thanked Kapuso Action Man for helping her navigate the process and address the issue. With her records corrected, she can move forward without fear of tax liabilities, giving her peace of mind and protecting her from potential legal troubles in the future.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is the government agency responsible for collecting taxes in the Philippines. It oversees tax administration, ensures compliance with tax laws, and processes tax returns, business registrations, and other related services.
