Ice Seguerra Reacts to Vic Sotto’s Cyber Libel Case Against Darryl Yap

Ice Seguerra Supports Vic Sotto’s Cyber Libel Case Against Darryl Yap

ICE SEGUERRA – The singer expressed support for Vic Sotto’s decision to file 19 counts of cyber libel against director Darryl Yap.

The dispute between Vic Sotto and Darryl Yap began when a teaser for Yap’s film The Rap*sts of Pepsi Paloma was released on January 1, 2025. The teaser, featuring a scene that directly mentioned Vic’s name in connection to a serious accusation, caused him significant concern. On January 9, 2025, Vic filed 19 counts of cyber libel against Yap, claiming he was not consulted about the use of his name.

Yap’s lawyer, Atty. Raymond Fortun, stated they sent the script to Vic for feedback but received no response. Due to this, they proceeded without his input. Vic also filed a motion to prevent the release of promotional materials with his personal information, prompting a court response. Yap’s team, seeking to protect the film’s progress, requested a gag order to stop public statements from Vic’s side.

In an exclusive interview with PEP.ph, Ice Seguerra commented, “Tama lang, tama lang na nag-file, tama lang yun. Kasi ngayon, parang it’s so easy to just do something na isang bagay na hindi natin iniisip kung ano ang puwedeng repercussion. For me, it’s a good move ni Tito Vic to file. Ipagtanggol niya ang sarili niya.” Ice emphasized that filing the case was a good move to protect one’s rights, especially in the age of social media where actions can have significant repercussions.

When asked if he had seen the teaser, Ice Seguerra admitted he had not and chose not to watch it. He was simply pleased that Vic took legal action. Currently, Ice is busy with rehearsals for the upcoming pre-Valentine concert Love, Sessionistas, scheduled for February 8 at The Theatre at Solaire. This concert reunites the Sessionistas, a group formed on the ABS-CBN musical variety show ASAP. The concert will feature Sitti, Juris, Duncan Ramos, Kean Cipriano, Princess Velasco, and Nyoy Volante, though former members Nina and Richard Poon will be absent due to prior commitments.
