Vice Ganda Talks About ‘Konsyerto sa Palasyo’

VICE GANDA – The Unkabogable Star shared his thoughts on the “Konsyerto sa Palasyo,” a special event held at the Kalayaan Hall Grounds in Malacañang Palace on December 15. The concert, which aimed to revive the struggling Filipino film industry, was led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos.

In an interview with PTV, Vice expressed his gratitude for the concert, emphasizing its significant role in supporting the Filipino movie industry. “Pero sa ngayon na-aappreciate namin ito, malaking tulong ito lalo pa’t talagang naghihingalo ang pelikulang Pilipino, anumang tulong ay talagang ma-aappreciate nating lahat,” Vice said.

The concert also sparked discussions, particularly with photos circulating of Megastar Sharon Cuneta and her husband, Atty. Kiko Pangilinan, alongside the President and First Lady, noting their political ties to the opposing camps of Vice President Sara Duterte and the UniTeam.

Meanwhile, Vice Ganda stars in the heartwarming family comedy-drama And the Breadwinner Is…, which will hit theaters on December 25, 2024, as part of the 50th Metro Manila Film Festival. The story revolves around Bambi Salvador, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) in Taiwan, who is the main breadwinner for her family back home. After returning to her hometown in Pampanga, she’s devastated to find that the dream house she worked so hard for is still unfinished, and their home is falling apart. In response, Bambi and her family decide to reopen “Papsy’s Panaderyuh,” a bakery and funeral parlor, in an effort to rebuild their lives.

The film shines a light on the sacrifices of OFWs and the unrecognized heroes who work tirelessly to support their loved ones’ dreams. Vice Ganda takes on the role of Bambi, leading an all-star cast including Eugene Domingo, Jhong Hilario, and Gladys Reyes. It also marks Vice Ganda’s return to the big screen after a two-year break, this time with a more dramatic role compared to his usual comedic characters.
