VP Sara Duterte Highlights Christmas Essence: “forgiving, giving, and loving”
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President called on the Filipinos to be forgiving this Christmas but admitted that she herself will not forgive.
Vice Pres. Duterte is undeniably the politician who is surrounded by several controversies now. She earned intrigues following her remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos and some members of the Marcos family. She is also being questioned over the Confidential Funds use of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd).
Duterte earned countless negative comments over the issues and accusations against her. The National Bureau of Investigation or NBI also issued a subpoena against Duterte over her remarks that seemingly sparked threats against Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
An impeachment complaint was also filed against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte by 16 complainants with former Senator Leila de Lima as the spokesperson of the group. Kiko Aquino Dee, the grandson of the late former Senator Ninoy Aquino, is one of the complainants.
Recently, amid the issues, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte spoke on the Christmas season. The Vice President highlighted the essence of Christmas which are “forgiving, giving, and loving”. She stressed the value of making amends with loved ones instead of a luxurious Christmas celebration.
“‘Aanhin po atin ang masarap na lechon kung yun namang kumakain sa harap natin ay masama ang loob nila sa atin?” the Vice President said.
However, based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Vice President admitted that she herself will not forgive. Duterte said she will not forgive without speaking who she is referring to. According to her, she highlighted the essence of Christmas being a vice president.
“Lagi ko pong sinasabi na depende po ‘yan sa tao pero dahil ako as vice president, kailangan kong sabihin sa inyo na ‘yan po ang mensahe at diwa ng Pasko. Pero po ako hindi po talaga ako magpapatawad,” Vice Pres. Duterte said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte made the remarks at the Office of the Vice President’s gift-giving activity in Lagawe, Ifugao. Based on the report, after admitting that she will not forgive, the Vice President paused and smiled right after which sparked cheers from the audience.
Despite the tirades of the Vice President against him, Pres. Bongbong Marcos expressed being not in favor of an impeachment plan against Duterte. According to the Chief Executive, it will not benefit a single Filipino and the Vice President is “unimportant” in a bigger scheme.
