SAM MANGUBAT – The Tawag Ng Tanghalan Season 1st runner-up took to social media where he asked people to stop negativity amid the historic win of The Voice USA Season 26 grand winner, Sofronio Vasquez.

Sofronio achieved a groundbreaking milestone by becoming the first Filipino and Asian winner of The Voice USA. Under the guidance of Michael Bublé, he outperformed his fellow contestants to claim the top prize of $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music Group. In his final performance, Sofronio showcased his impressive vocal range and emotional delivery through renditions of “Unstoppable” and “A Million Dreams”.

Sofronio credited his family, particularly his mother, for his success and announced plans to use the prize money to improve her life. His victory sparked a buzz on social media, as fans from around the world celebrated his achievement with pride and admiration.

Before competing in The Voice USA, he competed in It’s Showtime segment Tawag ng Tanghalan where he won as the third runner-up. After that competition, he became a coach for contestants, maintaining his connection with the show. When Sofronio won The Voice USA, the Showtime hosts celebrated his achievement, sending congratulations.

However, the singing competition in the Philippines where he became part of was criticized. In fact, It’s Showtime was even tagged as a credit grabber after congratulating the Filipino-American singer for his historic win.

In a Facebook post, Sam Mangubat expressed that he’s confused as to why the shows Sofronio came from are being criticized. He believes that it’s in the past and that people may not be aware of the text votes that factor into the show’s results. He acknowledges that he was good before, but his performances now show that he has grown and become more seasoned. He believes that everyone, including It’s Showtime, is proud of him as he was a part of their show.
