DOH Representative Shouted At GMA News Reporter After Interviewing Pia Wurtzbach

PIA WURTZBACH – A GMA News reporter was shouted at by a DOH representative after interviewing the Miss Universe 2015.

A GMA News reporter had an unpleasant experience at a Department of Health (DOH)-sponsored World AIDS Day event in Pasig City on December 1, 2024. The event was led by Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2015, who is an ambassador for LoveYourself, a volunteer-based group that offers free HIV testing, counseling, treatment, and life coaching in the Philippines. Pia’s presence at the event drew much attention, and the reporter was given the chance to interview her.

However, shortly after the interview, the reporter was called by a DOH representative. According to a witness who spoke to Cabinet Files of PEP.ph, the representative suddenly raised their voice at the reporter. The DOH official reportedly scolded the journalist for not asking for permission to interview Pia, even though the interview had already been conducted. In an angry tone, the representative also demanded that the reporter delete the video of the interview with the former beauty queen.

The reporter, however, stayed calm and explained his actions politely. He refused to delete the interview video. The exact reason why the representative insisted on having the video deleted is still unclear, and no official explanation has been given by the DOH.

The incident has disappointed many, who believe that government workers should act professionally and respectfully. As a government employee, the DOH representative’s behavior was criticized for lacking politeness, especially toward a member of the press. This situation has raised concerns about how journalists are treated and highlighted the need for government employees to show respect and politeness at public events. It also reminds us that public servants are meant to serve the people and should treat everyone with dignity.
