House Member Confirms VP Sara Duterte Impeachment Complaint On the Works
SARA DUTERTE IMPEACHMENT – A member of the House of Representatives said that an impeachment complaint against the Vice President will be filed this December.
Vice Pres. Duterte is currently surrounded by several issues and accusations. The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has also released a subpoena for her urging her to appear at their headquarters and explain her remarks against Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
A few days ago, Duterte made a claim that part of her final wish in case an alleged plot against her succeeds is the death of Pres. Marcos. Several authorities confirmed to look into the matter citing that it is a matter of national security. The House panel even postponed its hearing so Vice Pres. Duterte can appear at the NBI.
Prior to her recent remarks, the Vice President also sparked countless reports for her repeated non-appearance at the hearings set by the House of Representatives. The House members investigated the budget utilization of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd) but she repeatedly snubbed the hearings.
Duterte said that she appeared at the first hearing and she was not asked. Then, the Vice President refused to take an oath saying it is only for witnesses. She also left the House hearing early.
Out of the P2 billion budget requested by the Office of the Vice President (OVP), the House of Representatives approved only P733 million. The decision came after Duterte snubbed the budget deliberation after a spar with ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro on the first hearing.
Recently, Rep. France Castro made a statement confirming that Vice Pres. Sara Duterte impeachment complaint is on the works in the House of Representatives now. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the lawmakers in the lower chamber target to file the complaint this December.
“Meron ng gumagawa. Bayan [ang gumagawa]. Kung matatapos namin, naraming signatories hindi lang sa Bayan… I think kaya naman [before the year ends],” Castro said.
Rep. Castro stressed that Vice Pres. Duterte must explain the alleged misuse of the OVP and the DepEd Confidential Funds. Based on the report, the lawmaker is confident that there are enough numbers in the House of Representatives for the VP Sara Duterte impeachment and for the complaint to be sent to the Senate.
“Natatantya naman namin na meron dito sa House of Representatives. Kino-consider din natin ang number sa ngayon para siyempre maipanalo, mai-push natin itong impeachment,” Castro said.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the Marcos government is allegedly using the Arnie Teves “playbook” on her. According to her, the government is allegedly finding faults in her remarks so charges can be filed against her.
